The fast ferry will have a capacity of 340 passengers and 10 cars with a cruising speed of 35 knots. The first deck shall have first class seating as well as VIP cabins, whereas the main deck includes the car hold, tourist class seating, a kiosk and ample luggage storage space. AMD of Australia was commissioned by KGL to prepare the principal design of the vessel.
Damen Shipyards Singapore will outfit and commission the catamaran which is scheduled for delivery in Kuwait by mid-2007. Damen will also provide a training program for KGL’s crew, as well as an on-board service engineer during the first period of operation.
KGL is a rapidly growing Kuwaiti company, with activities ranging from passenger & cargo transportation to logistics & warehousing, as well as port management. The new catamaran will operate on scheduled services between Kuwait City and ports in Iran, Bahrain, Iraq and the Kuwaiti islands.
